This training integrates Mindful Self-Compassion, Compassion Focused Recovery, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a new way of looking at what happens as individuals learn to release themselves from auto pilot and Unhinge the Binge. Inherent in this new paradigm of care, is an educational perspective that offers practitioners and individuals several strategies to empower themselves and others. Using this key, individuals are able to unlock the chains which keep them off balance and ambivalent, freeing them to treat themselves in the same manner they would a good friend. Remember it is about being not binging. |
Objectives (upon completion of this training, participants will be able to):
1) Describe key methods for empowering individuals in recovery by helping them to halt self-criticism and "undo the Harsh Critical Voice within"
2) List at least 3 techniques which may be employed to help individuals self-regulate, cultivate emotional resilience in recovery, and find solid ground through compassionate motivation
3) Practice techniques in class and employ experiential insights to optimize care in a clinical setting or home setting The course will begin at 8:30 for registration.
9 am - 10 am Undoing the Harsh Critical Voice within
10:15 am Break 15 Min.
10:30 am - 12 pm Unhinging the binge and cultivating resilience
Lunch on your own
1:00 pm - 2 pm Discovering an intimate relationship with your "self"
3:000 pm - 4 pm Experiential Practices to take home
You will gain simple tools for responding in a warm, compassionate way whenever you are experiencing painful thoughts and painful emotions, helping you to navigate your life with greater ease and the ability to thrive.

Linda Hamilton has studied under Dr. Paul Gilbert, orginator of Compassion Focused Therapy; Dr. Dennis Tirch who is an internationally recognized psychologist and author of Compassion Focused Therapy; Dr. Kristen Neff and Dr. Christopher Germer, co-creators of Mindful Self-Compassion. She has also studied with Steven Hayes, Kelly Wilson, and Kirk Strosahl, the founders of Acceptance and Commitment therapy.
